Workshops
You Are A Scientist!
As seen at SciFest – In improv you can be anything, so why not a Scientist!
A fun-first workshop that invites the class to play STEM-themed improv games to support creativity and expressiveness, before the main event: take a fact sheet and, in groups, prepare a mini presentation on your topic. Let your imagination run wild. Ready… Go!
This workshop targets science oracy, confidence in presenting and teamwork skills.
All participants receive a certificate to celebrate achievement and boost confidence.

Katherine is an amazing improv facilitator, and taking extra steps to create a safe and reassuring environment.

Fun with Improv
Say “Yes” to improv, “and” have a great time!
I run in-person and online workshops suitable teenagers classes, and adults with no improv experience. Workshops can be “just for fun” or themed around a topic of inspiration (e.g. science, nature, the movies) or a skill to develop (e.g. teamwork, self-expression, listening).

Presenting 101
A crash course in effective oracy and sharing your passions
We all have to start somewhere, but when picking up a new skill that is a vital for examinations, extra circular activities and teamwork… where do you begin? Let me show you the foundations of presenting information, structuring key messages and having fun with PowerPoint.

Talks
“The best maths-comm talk I’ve ever seen.”
Dr Matt Hughes,
Pint of Science Speaker
A Mathematician offers you a cuppa…
My favourite comedy-maths talk about data science and creative solutions
I invite you to think like a Mathematician. First, identify a problem (I have too many teas from my guest to choose from). Then, ask “what can I use to solve this” (I wonder if a decision tea-tree could help). Ok, lets learn how to use these tools (data science!) and cross our fingers. Rinse, repeat, till we’re happy and our problem is solved (I’ll pop the kettle on).
Featured at Maths in Action, Pint of Science 2026, Bright Club and BIG Demo Competition.
25 – 50 Minutes | 13 – 19/Adult target age | In-person
More than a game, the Maths of Billiards
From common rooms and pubs to DVD Logo screens and video games, billiards is everywhere
Ever played billiards on an elliptical table? Or a heart-shaped table? What if one of these shapes leads to absolute chaos? The shape makes all the difference; we can prove it with GCSE-level geometry, so let us use maths and physics to set up a game that we can’t lose!
25 – 50 Minutes | 13 – 19/Adult target age | In-person/Online/Hybrid

How to play Quantum Billiards
This is not an analogy, this was my PhD thesis!
A variation of “The Maths of Billiards” but with a physics twist! An introduction to the quantum world through props, comedy and accessible explanation.
First performed at Pint of Science 2023, see an early version of the talk here!
25 – 50 Minutes | 15 – 19/Adult target age | In-person/Online/Hybrid
If I can do it, you can too – Going to Uni
A inspirational coming of age talk about achieving when you might not feel good enough
I share my journey as a dyslexic and disabled person who faced challenges in school and grew up in a low-income background, to then find self-belief to not only become the first in my family to earn a degree, but a PhD. I tell this story as if speaking to my younger self, to reassure them, and other young people, that “yes, you are good enough to follow your passions.”
25 – 80 Minutes | 13 – 19 target age | In-person/Online/Hybrid

Mentoring
I love mentoring and I’m here to support!
Whether its for a PhD student, a class of a dozen undergraduate women in mathematics progressing through a course, or a 1-to-1 guidance session with a teenager trying to figure out their next steps in college, life or navigating their identities, I’m here for a tea and chat.
Mentoring sessions can be structured, or a causal Q&A chat and check-in.
